Man taken to hospital for ebola-like symptoms in Stockholm
A Swedish man with ebola-like symptoms has been taken to hospital in Stockholm.
The man had recently visited a West African country.
– The risk for this to be ebola is extremely low, says Åke Örtqvist, head of the infectious disease unit in Stockholm.
The emergency department in Solna, Stockholm, treated the man for fever. When the staff learned that he had recently visited a West African country they contacted the infectious disease unit in Stockholm. They decided to put an emergency plan in action - and the man was picked up by an ambulance. He his now being treated at the infectious disease unit at Karolinska hospital in Stockholm.
Åke Örtqvist, head of the infectious disease unit, says to Aftonbladet that the risk for ebola is "extremely low".
The man has been tested for ebola and the final result will be delivered in 24 hours.
